Shankar Aggarwal, Joint Secretary e-Governance, Government of India initiaties discussions on Mobile Governance Roadmap for India during e-GovWorld 2011 held in New Delhi
The focus of the deliberations during e-Gov World 2011, held in New Delhi on January 20 -21, 2011 was on formulation of mobile governance road map for India. The department of Information Technology, Government of India has decided to come up with the policy framework for mobile governance in next 100 days. This makes India one of the pioneering countries who will have the mobile governance policy framework in place.
e-Gov World 2011 was organized by The Society for Promotion of e-Governance and Tetra Information Services in association with the Department of Information Technology, Government of India and e-Development Thematic Group of The World Bank as the institutional partners. Tata Teleservices joined as the Telecom Partner along with PricewaterhouseCoopers who were the knowledge partners for e-Gov World 2011.
The two day deliberations that constituted face to face discussions at The Grand Vasant Kunj and global Video Conference Dialogues at The Delhi Office of The World Bank, focused on the thematic areas of Mobile Governance Road map for India, Role of Mobile/ New Media Technologies in achieving financial inclusion and business models for m-health and m-agriculture.
As part of the conference, a high level dialogue on ICTD cooperation was held between India and Moldova. The senior government officers and industry players from both India and Moldova participated in the dialogue.
