Indian Government allows mobile services in border areas

The Indian government has now relaxed security norms to allow provision of mobile phone services on national boundaries.

The mobile service providers in the country are now allowed to setup their services up to 500 meters of India’s international borders. This news comes as a great relief to the telecom companies in the country. They were till now barred from offering services up to 10 km from the international border of India.

The government said in a statement that there would be a “No Service Zone” of 500 meters width along the international border within Indian Territory for wireless/mobile services.
