Himmat, the mobile government application for women protection to be launched in Jharkhand

The application for women protection was first launched in Delhi by Delhi police. In the first phase, the application is available of Android platform.

The launch of mobile application oin Jharkhand after Delhi is a symbol of government's commitment to women safety and empowerment. The mobile application helps the victims get immediate police asisstance in the event of emergency.

The Chief Minister of Jharkhand also announced that in addition to making the application available, the government is also implementing plans to raise the number of women officers in police force to 30 percent of the total force as well as setting up women police stations in every district. The government has also started an awareness campaign in the schools of the state and appointed women liaison officers.

Editor's Viewpoint: The true empowerment of women is the society is possible by addressing the issues of access of ICT, cultural transformation and involvement of women in developing women centric ICT solutions so that the domain knowledge available with the ICT solution developers. The transformation has begun and can be converted into plethora of entrepreneurship opportunities for women if the government supports innovative initiatives through Nirbhaya fund spend through the crowd sourcing model.
