300 million US $ to be contributed by The World Bank for NeGP

The World Bank will contribute US $ 300 million for project preparation facilities under National e-Governance Programme. The facility is expected to assist capacity building and knowledge management initiatives for various mission mode projects (MMPs) under NeGP

The fund would be utilized for preparatory actions, which includes capacity enhancement and project formulation, at recognized states and central ministries.
The e-governance scheme anchored by department of IT , Government of India foresees citizen-centric governance by guaranteeing accessibility of all governmental services to the public. The execution of e-governance is likely to pull in more change and consistency at reasonable cost. The scheme is planned to be accomplished through mission mode projects, capacity building in government, public-private contracts etc.

The government is creating a special purpose vehicle called National e-Governance Agency (NeGA) to carry out the projects that fall under The World Bank assistance program financed under the project named e-Bharat . It remains to be seen how the PPF contributes to the acceleration of e-Governance initiatives in India.

The readers are encouraged to submit their comments on the needs for capacity building and ways to accelerate e-Governance in India. Please communicate your commnets below:
